2015 Condos:
Big Picture
The condo and loft boom is still here This is good news, and not just for condo owners. The general health of the Toronto real estate market largely depends upon the success of the condominium and loft component. First-time condo sellers are the ones who progress to other types of properties and they are the primary buyers of Toronto family homes, townhouses and larger condos. In recent months the condo market demonstrated signs of strength: prices are rising gradually, yet remain relatively affordable, whilst transaction volumes increase steadily.
New buildings are not causing a crash Toronto enjoys sound condominium pre-sale practices, so new buildings usually have little new inventory to be sold by the time they are completed. Also, although investors are still playing the market, the vast majority of condominiums in Toronto are owner-occupied. Vacancy rates are extremely low, currently hovering around 2%.
